HA!!!
September 22nd, 2009 at 2:07 pmScott Thorman somehow made people believe that he could perform like Laroche. Thorman caused the Laroche trade, which also caused the Tex trade, which also caused the Kotchman trade.
even though they both suck, he will always be the opposite of Andy Marte
September 22nd, 2009 at 2:15 pm‘Scott Thorman somehow made people believe that he could perform like Laroche. ‘
Their minor league careers were virtually identical.
Love the factoid about Brogna.
September 22nd, 2009 at 2:36 pmThorman’s story isn’t over yet. He’s only 27, and he led the AAA Omaha Royals in BA this year.
He’ll probably get another chance to perform at the majors. Playing him instead Jacobs right now would probably be an upgrade. Unless the Royals spontaneously grow an offense, he could make the team next year.
September 22nd, 2009 at 2:42 pmMatt Diaz has hit as many homers (three) in 23 at-bats during his six games at Citi Field as Beltran has hit here (three homers in 129 at-bats in 34 games), Delgado (three homers in 50 at-bats in 15 games), Schneider (three homers in 66 at-bats in 24 games) or Francoeur (three homers in 119 at-bats in 32 games)
September 22nd, 2009 at 2:44 pmBut, don’t forget about Francouer’s winning attitude, which adds at least fifty points to his OPS.
September 22nd, 2009 at 2:54 pmFelt sorry for Brogna, but he was finished.
I vote Thorman anyways.
September 22nd, 2009 at 3:00 pmNotable achievement: Canadian.
Wonderful, Mac.
September 22nd, 2009 at 3:01 pmhpotter is quoting (or paraphrasing) from DOB’s blog… some interesting stuff on Matty D in that piece. And the one on McGuirk too for that matter.
September 22nd, 2009 at 3:20 pmThe Braves dividends from trading Francoeur to the Mets may just be starting. MLBTR reports Francoeur is lobbying for the Mets to sign Jason Marquis. Marquis has been decent to good this year but having the Mets sign him to an Oliver Perez like contract would be sweet.
September 22nd, 2009 at 3:22 pmlol, Francoeur
September 22nd, 2009 at 3:54 pmScott Thorman not only sucked but also had regular temper tantrums when he inevitably made outs. It was hard to watch this behemoth of a man charge down the line on a weakly-hit 3u only to end up very out and very mad.
September 22nd, 2009 at 4:04 pmHe always looked like he was about to go postal at any moment, that Thorman.
September 22nd, 2009 at 4:23 pmAs I have stated here before, if “scowling, muttering obscenities and marching back to the dugout in a menacing way after a strikeout” was an officially recognized statistic, Scott Thorman would be an All-Star.
September 22nd, 2009 at 4:28 pm“It was hard to watch this behemoth of a man charge down the line on a weakly-hit 3u only to end up very out and very mad.”
LOL, Weldon!
September 22nd, 2009 at 5:10 pmMy son in College brought home a beautiful girlfriend over Labor Day weekend. She told me she was a baseball fan, and asked me if I remembered Rico Brogna. “I said yes, he really sucked.” She replied, He’s my uncle.
September 22nd, 2009 at 5:13 pmI voted for Thorman
Let’s break out another can of whup-ass on the Mutts tonight boys! This season has the potential to end on a good note. I see blue skies in our future if Wren truly has GM power. Still can’t believe Frenchy is gone!
September 22nd, 2009 at 5:58 pmDidn’t Rico have a disease? What excuse does Thorman have?
September 22nd, 2009 at 6:34 pmLack of anger management.
September 22nd, 2009 at 6:39 pmThe Braves have now suffered a hidden no-hitter; they’ve made 28 outs since their last hit, the two-run double by Prado in the 3rd inning last night.
September 22nd, 2009 at 6:44 pmSacrifice bunt by McCann. Honestly. Only twelve more games of this…
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:03 pmgarret anderson or bobby cox: who is more worthless this season?
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:05 pmEscobar’s worth putting up with, after all.
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:06 pmI don’t believe there is any serious thought to getting rid of Escobar in the FO. Regardless of Bobby, Wren couldn’t be that dumb.
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:16 pmThat’s our Frenchy!
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:18 pm#19, I’m hoping we blow them out now. Imagine being no hit for 9.1 innings and still winning 11-3 and 9-1 or something. That would be something else to add to the Mets’ season.
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:27 pmthe “if” game: if the braves could trade derek lowe, bobby cox, and kelly johnson for lou piniella, milton bradley, and derek lee, would you do it?
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:30 pmI would trade Bobby Cox, Derek Lowe, and KJ for nothing, how about just Derek Lee
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:34 pmWhy was McCann pulled?
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:35 pmno, the point was you had to take their baggage as well.
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:35 pmBMac got his glove hand hit by a foul tip. Ball hit square on the part of his hand sticking out of the end of his glove. Left hand contusion, looked painful
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:39 pmMcCann got hit hard on the wrist by a foul tip. He had to try to sac bunt because swinging the bat hurt too much. Not Bobby’s call.
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:40 pmDid Yunel just tweak something there?
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:43 pmI didn’t know that. Thanks, Adam.
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:44 pmDamn, make him work, Jair.
September 22nd, 2009 at 7:56 pmFirst-pitch outs. That’s what I love about Frenchy. Oddly, it’s also what I hated about him until July 11.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:03 pmGood grief, if Frenchy gets the tying run it’ll be another data point in the He Doesn’t Really Suck meme. Maybe that’s a good thing. I am conflicted.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:08 pm“Brogna was recruited as a quarterback by Clemson University, but chose to pursue a career in baseball instead.” Never try to sign anyone away from a Clemson scholarship.
haha, I love it
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:10 pmSpike, let’s thank Jair for resolving your conflict.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:10 pmI voted for Thorman. His awfulness led to the Teixiera fiasco.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:15 pmI’m sick of all of this failed bunting crap.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:40 pmI’m not real thrilled even when the bunts are successful.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:42 pmDear God, Jurrjens is good.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:44 pmbunts have their place in the game, its just not smart to do it in the late innings or by players who usually fail at it
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:45 pmTrue, csg. But very few of ours satisfy those conditions.
It’s Soriano, everyone. Grab the Maalox.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:46 pmsoriano starts by getting squeezed.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:48 pmLooks like he got a generous one for strike one – true?
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:50 pmlol, Francoeur.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:52 pmThat’s our…er their Jeffy!
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:53 pmNice work, Raffy.
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:57 pmyour 2009 Atlanta Braves – Officially Not Under .500!
September 22nd, 2009 at 8:58 pmIf Arizona wins tonight, we tie the Giants for 2nd place in the WC, for what it’s worth.
September 22nd, 2009 at 9:04 pmMet-taunting recap is up. I only saw the last batter.
September 22nd, 2009 at 9:09 pm
